These instructions help staff connect various personal devices to districts -SECURE Wi-Fi networks. Note when entering the username do not include the domain name, for user@example.com you would just use user as the username.
¶ Android/ Non-District Chromebooks
Connect to the network and use the following settings:
EAP method: PEAP
Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
CA Certificate: Use system certificates
Online Certificate Status: Do not verify
Domain: swmitech.org
Identity: username
Anonymous identity: username
Password: your password
Connect to the network
Enter username & password
A certificate screen may open, if it does click ‘Trust’
Connect to the network
Enter username & password
Click Join
Connect to the network and use the following settings:
EAP method: PEAP
EAP Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
Server CA Certificate: Default
Identity: username
Password: your password
Anonymous identity: username
- Go to the Network and Sharing Center
- Click Set up a new connection or network
- Choose Manually connect to a wireless network > Next
- Enter the name of the network e.g. kre-secure
- Choose WPA2-Enterprise > Next
- Click Change Connection Settings and go to the Security tab
- Click Settings and uncheck Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate
- Click Configure and make sure Automatically use my Windows logon name and password is unchecked
- Click OK and then Click Advanced Settings
- Check Specify authentication mode, choose User authentication, and Click Save credentials
- Enter your username and password then click OK until all the dialog windows are closed
- Try to connect
- Go to Network & Internet
- Click Wi-Fi
- Click Manage known networks
- Click Add network
- Enter the name of the network e.g. kre-secure
- Select WPA2-Enterprise AES for the security type
- Select PEAP for the EAP Method
- Select secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) for the Authentication Method
- Enter your username in the Your Private Identifier box
- Click Save
- Try to connect
- Enter your username and password when prompted. DO NOT enter your email address.
