These instructions will guide you through connecting your personal devices to the district's [District Name/Network Name] secure Wi-Fi network.
Important Note on Username: When prompted for your username, do not include the domain name.
Correct: user
Incorrect: user@example.com
Go to Settings → Network & Internet.
Click Wi-Fi → Manage known networks.
Click Add network.
Enter the following details:
Network name: [e.g., kre-secure]
Security type: WPA2-Enterprise AES
EAP Method: PEAP
Authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
Your Private Identifier: Enter your username (without the domain).
Click Save.
Try to connect to the network, and enter your username and password when prompted.
Go to the Network and Sharing Center.
Click Set up a new connection or network.
Choose Manually connect to a wireless network and click Next.
Enter the following:
Network Name: [e.g., kre-secure]
Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
Click Next.
Click Change Connection Settings and go to the Security tab.
Click the Settings button (under "Choose a network authentication method").
Uncheck the box next to "Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate."
Click the Configure button.
Make sure "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password" is UNCHECKED.
Click OK to close all pop-up windows until you return to the Security tab.
Click Advanced Settings.
Check Specify authentication mode, choose User authentication from the drop-down menu, and click Save credentials.
Enter your username and password.
Click OK until all dialog windows are closed, and then try to connect to the network.
Go to Settings → Wi-Fi.
Select the [Network Name] network.
Enter your username (without the domain) and password when prompted.
If a Certificate screen appears, review the certificate and click Trust.
Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar.
Select the [Network Name] network.
Enter your username (without the domain) and password.
Click Join.
For non-district issued devices running Android or Chrome OS, use the following settings:
